Prof. P.N. Sharma obtained B.Sc. Engg. (Civil) degree from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala in year 1963, M.Sc. Engg. (Structures) from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh in 1967 and Ph.D. from University of Rajasthan in 1989. Having served M.N.I.T. (then M.R.E.C.) Jaipur for thirteen years and, thereafter N.I.T., (then R.E.C.) Kurukshetra for twenty one years, he retired from service in year 2001. Apart from working as Professor for about twelve years, he had held various positions such as Dean (Planning & Development), Dean (Consultancy), Chief Warden, President Students’ Clubs. A keen sportsman himself, he has all along been associated with sports and cultural activities. He has a number of research papers to his credit. He doctoral work on ‘Optimum Design of a Bus Body Structure’ has been widely acclaimed. He has guided about thirty M.E / M.Tech dissertations besides a large number of projects for B.E. and M.E degrees. He has been a leading consultant and has been providing consultancy services to various govt., semi-govt., and private organizations in the field of Structural Engineering in a big way. He was awarded E.P. Nicolaides Prize (International level) by Institution of Engineers (India) for best paper published in the Journal of the Institution in year 2007, on December 14, 2007. Having served Sobhasaria Engineering College, Sikar (Rajasthan) for more than five years after his retirement from N.I.T., Kurukshetra, he joined this college as Director in March, 2007.
