| | Faculty Development Program
Teaching is a noble profession and it will continue to be so. This should be considered to be an opportunity to learn, to get an insight of what is to be taught. As now a days number of colleges are increasing but the quality of teaching is becoming poor, there is a need to develop the skills regarding effective teaching for efficient transfer of knowledge.
To develop such skills, one such Faculty Development Programme was organized on “Quality Assurance in Technical Education” from 13th to 17th May 2008. The programme was conducted by Dr. S. K. Bhattacharya, formerly Director, N.I.T.T.T.R., Kolkatta. The course was offered through presentations and individual & group assignments. The programme concentrated on the key skills required by a good teacher covering topics:
- Concept of Teaching and Learning,
- Factors affecting Motivation in Learning,
- Requirements of 21st century work place,
- Lesson Planning,
- Development of Teaching Material,
- Developing Evaluation Tools,
- Making Effective Presentations,
- Total Personality Development of students,
- Action Research and Writing Research Papers,
- Innovations in Teaching and Learning.
More programmes are proposed during the next session from visiting as well as in-house faculty.
